" Through the same bars, two men gaze out: one sees the stars, the other the muck."- Frederick Langbridge, An Assemblage of Silent Ideas
Will you be thrilled to have placed second in a writing competition and strive for even greater performance the next time, or will you be demoralized and find a reason not to enter again?
There are always options available to you in life. You may choose to follow the path of the optimist and have a demanding and satisfying life, or you could adopt a pessimistic viewpoint and lead a life of self-defeating choices.
So why support the viewpoint of an optimist? And why at this moment?
Optimism has been associated with favorable emotions and morale, success in the classroom, on the sports field, in the military, in the workplace, and in politics, popularity, excellent health, and even a long life free from trauma.
Conversely, there has never been a larger prevalence of pessimism and sadness. The same way it affects younger people, it also affects middle-aged adults. The average age of onset is now 15 instead of 30. It is now a disorder that affects teens as well as middle-aged housewives.
These are some examples of optimists in action, along with studies that support the idea that being an optimist pays off:
Optimists anticipate success.
Pessimists are known for their propensity to blame themselves
for unfortunate circumstances that would negatively impact all they do over an
extended period of time.
Optimists
actually face the same harsh realities of this world. Their explanation for
their tragedy is different—it's the exact opposite. They frequently think that
defeat is only a brief setback and that there are only specific circumstances
in this one instance.
Optimists frequently concentrate on and make plans for the current "problem." "Positive reinterpretation" is their method. Put differently, they probably reframe a bad event as a teaching opportunity that advances their development. These folks don't let terrible things get to them; instead, they see it as a challenge and put in more effort.
They won't remark, "Things will never get better." "If I make a mistake once, I'll make it again" and "If I encounter bad luck in one area of my life, it will affect the entire life"
Optimists' optimistic expectations also foretell superior responses to unexpected turns of events, abrupt catastrophes, and changes in surroundings. They will get back up if they fall. Rather than seeing barriers, they perceive opportunity.
Optimists are well received by the public.
Those that are optimistic take initiative and rely less on other people to make them happy. They don't see the need to manipulate or control others. People tend to gravitate toward them. Their upbeat outlook on life has the potential to spread to people around them.
In every community, optimism appears to be a socially valued quality. People who propagate doom, terror, and hysteria are viewed negatively, while those who promote optimism are typically embraced.
In real life, these people are frequently elected, voted most amiable, and asked for guidance.
When things are difficult, optimists become more resilient.
When under stress, those who are more optimistic tend to have higher levels of subjective well-being than those who are less optimistic. Pessimists, on the other hand, are more inclined to reject the existence of unpleasant situations or put off solving difficulties in response to them. Pessimists are more prone to give up when things get tough.
They do not give up. They simply never give up and are renowned for their patience. stumbling toward that objective or unattainable ambition.
Optimists have longer and better lives.
Simple pleasures and an optimistic mindset have been shown by medical study to significantly boost the body's resistance to illness.
The health of optimists is remarkably good. They mature gracefully, largely immune to the common physical ailments of middle age, unlike other humans. Additionally, they outlive people who are prone to pessimism.
Why not adopt an optimistic outlook today? And envision a life that is more fulfilling.
Why not aim for success in whatever you do? Why not exercise resilience? You will inevitably have low points like everyone else, but don't just stay there. Get out of the muck and get better.
your possibilities of regaining direction. And why not encourage others to take off their dark glasses and find the positive side of life?
